Social Media Fueling Low Self-Esteem?

Social Media Fueling Low Self-Esteem?

The University of Salford in the UK conducted a study to see if social media fueled low self esteem. Half of the survey’s 298 participants (all social media users) said that media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. makes their lives worse. Participants said that their self-esteem suffers when they compare their own accomplishments to those of their online friends. 2/3 said they find it difficult to relax or sleep after spending time on media sites. More than half say they feel worried or uncomfortable at times when they cannot access their Facebook or email accounts. Does these findings align with your experiences? How do you find a healthy balance between social media time and maintaining a positive self-esteem?
